Frost, fallen leaves and an empty valley: Willow Valley out of season
Once the visitors have gone, the valley changes. Autumn colour down the banks, the first hard frost on the grass, and the lodges, Bluebird, Boskenna and the hardstanding pitches still open through the colder months.
Once the visitors have gone and autumn arrives, the valley changes. The trees across the site shed their leaves, and in the low, calm light of a November day you get the full run of autumn colour down the banks.
Then comes the first proper frost. Waking to it is something else: the grass carpeted white, the sun trying to climb over the ridge, the stream still bubbling away underneath it all. The ambience here shifts daily, and out of season the peace and the birdlife become the whole point.
The lodges, Bluebird, Boskenna and the hardstanding pitches stay open through the colder months, so you don’t have to wait for summer to have the valley largely to yourself. Wrap up, get the kettle on, and walk the empty acres. It’s our favourite time of year, if we’re honest.
